Discover unique housing opportunities during the NVM Open Monumental Homes Day
On the weekend of September 13th and 14th, hundreds of listed buildings in the Netherlands will open their doors during the national Open Monument Days. The NVM is organizing the second annual NVM Open Monumental Homes Day on Saturday, September 13th, specifically for home seekers. This is a unique opportunity to easily view listed homes for sale.
The Netherlands has more than 140,000 national and municipal monuments, approximately 110,000 of which are residential. From historic canal houses to characterful farmhouses, monumental homes tell a story. During the Open Monumental Homes Day, interested parties can discover what living in a monument is like – and whether it’s a good fit for them. “Buying a monument is something special,” says Anneke Haak-Bronsema, NVM real estate agent and board member of the Housing department. “You’re not just buying a house, you’re also buying a piece of heritage. And this day makes it easy to take a look without an appointment.”
Dordrecht is the oldest city in Holland. With over a thousand monuments, it’s a true
city of monuments. The picturesque streets of the old city center tell us something about the past. In this way, they also help us better understand the present and teach us who we are.
This weekend, more than 70 monuments in Dordrecht will open their doors to the public, a unique opportunity to peek inside places you wouldn’t normally visit!
